Macromedia and Adobe have adopted CSS for positioning…The Macromedia homepage now has no tables and the Adobe page has two (not sure why … they could have easily managed without…).
The tables have turned. Literally. If the biggest players are adopting the technology, the rest will follow. There are more listed here, including Wired (that Doug Bowman again).
